This year’s PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games, which kick off with Thursday’s Opening Ceremonies, will have a local flavor with eight Reno/Tahoe athletes, one local broadcaster and even a Reno cheerleader in attendance. Just getting to the Olympics is a major feat, with locals Travis Ganong (torn ACL), Nate Holland (a three-time Olympian), Hannah Tweeter (a two-time Olympic medalist) and Karly Shorr (competed in the 2014 Games) all falling short this cycle. The one who did make it are looking to stand atop the podium. Here is a look at the locals representing our area in Korea.
