Ambassador Interview

What keeps you inspired to continue to train and be disciplined in your sport?

In search of a continuing effort to create the Perfect Turn, to become better at ski racing through and through training.

What is a piece of advice you would pass along to generations who aspire to follow in your footsteps?

Get out and ski, ski, ski – stay in shape, get into a good program and enjoy. We are very lucky to have such an incredible mountain with the type of terrain that makes our skiing athletes into the top notch world class ski racers that they are.

Please share a fond memory of your time at the Olympics or another race/competition you competed in.

A fond memory from my Olympics – my fond memory was to be able to share my Olympic experience with my sister Sandra, who was also on the 1972 Winter Olympic team. An un- fond memory of the Olympic experience was a crash in the pre-run of the downhill that sent me home for knee surgery.

What is one thing you always do before a race/competition?

Focus Focus Focus.

What is something people don’t know about you and would surprise them?

I have lived in Squaw Valley for over 70 years and my sister says that I am the longest living, full-time resident of Squaw Valley. Growing up in Squaw Valley, the only thing that there was to do in winter during my childhood was to Ski, Ski,Ski so that’s where I got started.

Why are you excited about supporting the SNOW Museum?

The museum will be a great place to show off the wonderful history of our local ski sport and of our area for generations to come.
